Qatargas, established in 1984, pioneered the Liquefied Natural Gas industry (LNG) in Qatar. Today, we are the largest LNG producing company in the world with a production capacity of 42 million tonnes per annum (MTA) of LNG and now realising our vision to deliver, safely and reliably, LNG to our customers around the globe in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North and South American markets from our world-class facilities in Qatar.

1. Premier LNG Company

We at Qatargas are proud to deliver one of Qatar’s most precious natural resources to the world. We have played a significant role in positioning Qatar as world leader in LNG. By 2015 our vision is to be the world’s premier LNG Company, known for our people, innovation, operating excellence and corporate social responsibility.

2. Largest LNG Trains in the World

Four of our seven LNG production Trains are the largest in the world, each with a production capacity of 7.8 million tons per year of LNG – that’s a lot of LNG! In February 2011, Qatargas’ latest Train (Train 7) started LNG production, bringing our overall production capacity to 42 MTA – the largest in the world.

This achievement has contributed significantly towards realising His Highness the Emir, of the State of Qatar’s Vision to achieve the country’s target to output 77 million tons of LNG per annum. This could meet the current natural gas demands for the entire world for approximately 13 days!

6. Qatargas Summer Internship

The Qatargas Internship Programme provides valuable opportunities for Nationals studying at high schools and universities in the State of Qatar, to gain the experience of a real working environment at the Company’s locations, during the course of their study. This is implemented as part of an agreement between Qatargas and the high schools/universities. The Internships for Nationals are conducted during the summer. Every Intern will follow an Internship Objective Plan (IOP) having a set of task objectives to complete during the Internship period. Applications can be accepted well in advance, and expressions of interest are welcome at any stage.

7. Qatargas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme

Qatargas provides opportunities at leading international universities and colleges, in Qatar and abroad, in specialised disciplines which are critical for Qatargas’ business success. Scholarships remain a key progression mechanism for Nationals currently pursuing higher education in fields of study such as Petroleum, Geology, Instrument & Control, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Marine engineering and various other specialisations.

We also adhere to the strictest standards of health and environmental control and are especially proud of the fact that Qatargas was the first LNG Company to receive joint ISO 9001 and 14002 certification.

9. Shareholder Attachments

Qatargas offers shareholder attachment and assignment programmes that provide exciting opportunities to learn from experienced professionals at our shareholder companies through exposure to best practices and technologies that might not be available in Qatar.

10. Individual Training Plan (ITP) for High School Graduates and Individual Development Plan (IDP) for University Graduates

ITP & IDP for Nationals consists of 70% on the job training experiences supervised by a “Subject Matter Expert”, who will act as your coach throughout all the phases of your training and development, until you become a fully established professional in your chosen field of expertise. 20% of the training and development is provided by coaching support from your department. There is also a dedicated specialist who works with you and your coach to ensure that your progress is assisted, tracked and rewarded. Your ITP or IDP captures your learning objectives and achievements. The IDP is automated electronically on a workflow system in our intranet, which is the first automated development plan tracking system in the Oil & Gas Industry, within the state of Qatar. 10% of the training & development you can expect, will take place in the form of training courses at home or abroad, including web-based tutorials. In year 2011, Qatargas won the prestigious Qatarisation Award, for the Company’s contribution towards the category of “Support for Training and Development”.

11. Strategic Qatarisation Planning Committee

This high-level committee is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer and comprises of all Group Managers, the Human Resources Manager and the Learning & Development Manager. The committee maintains a high level oversight of all activities relating to the recruitment, training, development, deployment, progress, retention of Nationals and succession planning through structured bi-annual meetings.

12. CEO Forums for National Trainees & Graduates

These annual forums are attended by all of our Nationals in the development and training programmes, along with their department managers, and representatives from our Human Resources and Learning & Development teams. At the meetings, our Nationals are encouraged to raise issues in the spirit of open communication regarding their training and development and to share with management any ideas or suggestions they may have.

13. Learning & Development Focus Group

The purpose of the L&D Focus Group is to provide a forum for Graduates to communicate directly with management; sharing their needs and ideas for improving the Graduate Development Programme. This information is used to ensure continuous improvement of our Graduate Development Programme. The Graduate community is represented by a panel of ten Graduates, drawn from every group in the company.

14. Rewards & Recognition

We have developed a system for rewarding and recognising our Nationals for special contributions, with awards such as - Best National under Development and Best National under Training. Other awards are given to recognise the valued contribution of Coaches and Mentors in helping Nationals develop.

15. Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Qatargas supports all ambitious graduates seeking international recognition to do so by registering them with specific international professional institutions. Engineering, Finance and HR professionals amongst others, are all encouraged to pursue additional courses of study to achieve this. Engineers for example, have the opportunity to become Incorporated and then Chartered, by following our accredited Engineering Professional Development Scheme alongside their IDP. Finance, HR and other professionals, are all encouraged to pursue additional courses of study to achieve similar qualifications.

16. Succession Planning

Qatargas encourages and expects all National employees and particularly graduates to reach the highest level possible and lead our organisation. When you complete your Individual Development Programme and move to an established position we will help you to prepare your first career development plan. Once in an established position you can benefit from the structured approach Qatargas takes to succession planning. This is based on job performance and an objective assessment of potential. Our succession planning process constructively identifies development needs to progress your career with clear and practical work experience, professional education and personal development support.
