Our most significant contribution to community health is the Al Khor Community Medical Centre (AKCMC) which looks after the health needs of more than 15,000 people including employees and their dependents. Through the centre, we aim to provide internationally accredited, cost-effective and high-quality medical and dental services.

  • Monitor communicable diseases and chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes and epilepsy.

  • Specialised services increased in 2015, including the Well Women clinic which provides breast cancer screening and cervical smear testing.

  • Health promotion among school children including anti-smoking, dental care, and healthy eating initiatives.

  • Innovative technology: a retinal fundus camera helps in the early detection of complications affecting vision as a result of diabetes.

  • Ambulatory monitoring system for hypertension which enables 24-hour blood pressure monitoring.

The Al Khor International School (AKIS) is a co-educational, non-selective educational establishment offering the National Curriculum of England, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's Qatar History and Islamic Studies curriculum to the children of Qatargas employees.

AKIS employs close to 600 staff which educate and support over 4,200 students representing over 45 nationalities from kindergarten through to Post 16. AKIS also boasts a wide range of enrichment programmes and internationally recognised accreditations that enable our students access some of the world's most prestigious universities.
