Once-in-a-lifetime experience for more than 70 children at this year’s AFC Champions League matches

​​​Meeting their football heroes was the experience of a lifetime for children, and RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) this year brought football to life for more than 70 children in Qatar and South Korea through its sponsorship of the AFC Champions League (ACL).

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, the company invited children to meet their favourite football teams and enjoy the atmosphere of a live international match. Among them, 22 children from Al Khor International School (AKIS) escorted Qatar’s El Jaish club and the United Arab Emirates’ Al Ain club onto the pitch at one of the most anticipated matches of the year.

“We are delighted to share this opportunity with the local community,” stated Dr Ali Abdulla Al Hargan, RasGas’ Public Affairs Manager. “By providing the younger generation access to professional players, we hope to further instill in our children the real lesson of sport: successful players work hard to develop their talent, skills and knowledge, and work collaboratively with their teammates to achieve common goal.”

The Asian Champions League, or AFC Champions League, is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Thirty-two clubs compete in the round robin stages, with the winner qualifying for the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup to be held in Japan.​
